With the closing of fall sports, Winter sports including boys and girls soccer are jump-starting their season. Both teams had very successful seasons in the 2023-2024 school year and ended up competing in the CIF Championship tournament.
After coming off of a strong run, making it to the semi-finals of CIF, the lady Moors soccer team has been preparing for a strong comeback season. The girls have 12 returners on the team including 9 seniors. Their first game took place at Moor Field on Nov. 18 playing against Arroyo High School. The team started off strong by achieving a shutout win with a score of 8-0. Then on Nov. 20, the lady Moors beat Nogales high school with a score of 4-1 during their first away game of the season. Entering December the Lady Moors started off slow with 4 losses against South Pasadena, El Rancho, Temple City and San Marino high school. After suffering their tough losses, the team came back and achieved another shutout win against Glendale high with a score of 3-0 and a 3-2 victory against Ramona Convent. The Moors will take this momentum as they start league games against Bell Gardens on Jan. 13.
Boy’s soccer also had a winning league record of 5-3-2 in the 2023-2024 season along with an appearance in the first round of the CIF Championship Tournament. With 10 returning varsity players, the Moors have been preparing for a successful season. In November the team started off the season with 3-0 loss to Arroyo High school and a 2-4 loss to Nogales high school, and tied against Gabrielino high. After back-to-back losses in the first week of December, the Moors began their winning streak with victories against both Los Altos high and San Marino high. The Moors hope to continue their success as they begin their Almont League games in January.
