The Alhambra High School dance team and All-Male team found success throughout the competition season, earning multiple awards and top finishes at tournaments this semester. The season began Jan. 10 at Cal Pac, where the team earned first-place finishes in Co-Ed Dance, Medium Jazz and Small All Female. Individual competitors also delivered strong performances, as senior Jaden Yu and junior Thomas Bui each earned first place in hip hop for their grade levels. Junior Lea Sizemore earned first place in 11th-grade hip hop, while sophomore Aprille Lien placed second in 10th-grade jazz. On Jan. 17, the team competed at Esperanza High School during the Contest of Warriors. Alhambra earned first place in Co-Ed Dance, while individual awards included Yu earning first place in 12th-grade hip hop, senior Aedria Endoma placing second in 12th-grade hip hop and junior Ryota Isoda placing second in 11th-grade hip hop. Senior and All-Male captain Apollo Almelor also placed in the top five at Mr. Dance California 2026, finishing as fourth runner-up. The team continued competing through March 22, its final competition of the season. Alhambra earned first place in Pom/Drill, Small Male Hip Hop, Co-Ed Dance and Duet, performed by Yu and Isoda. The team also earned second place in Military, fourth place in Small Female Hip Hop and received a Parent Award recognizing spirit and support in the stands. The dance team and All-Male program also hosted their annual stage show, “What Dreams Are Made Of,” on May 9 in the AHS auditorium. The event featured competition routines and special performances from other schools, giving students the opportunity to celebrate the season and showcase their work to the school community.

Amy Alonso is the News Editor for the school newspaper during the 2025-26 school year. A current junior, she will help lead The Moor Weekly during the 2026-27 school year alongside Madelyn Molina. Outside of journalism, she serves as the Humorous Interpretation and Program Oral Interpretation captain for Speech & Debate and as second Vice President of Training for the Academy of Future Educators, the school’s most active tutoring club. In her free time, she enjoys writing, photography, filming, knitting, playing games and sleeping.
