On Oct. 27 the Moors faced off against the San Gabriel Matadors for the Moors second to last game of the season. The Moors Football season wrapped up with this game after five non-league games and four league games, going 1-7 overall. The Moors lost against the Matadors with a final score of 11-32.
The first quarter was off to a slow start. The Matadors scored a touchdown starting off the game with a six point lead.
Continuing into the second quarter, San Gabriel scored another two touchdowns remaining nineteen points a head with a score of 0-19.
Towards the end of the second quarter, Nelson Gutierrez scored a 30 yard field goal, putting the Moors on the scoreboard with a final quarter score of 3-19.
During the halftime show, performances by Dance, All Male, Cheer and Band entertained the guests. Additionally, the Homecoming King and Queen were revealed to be seniors Lucas Fuentes and Aliya Chaffino-Kirby.
During the third quarter, the Matadors scored their fourth touchdown, continuing their lead with a score of 3-25.
Moving onto the fourth and final quarter, San Gabriel scored a fifth and final touchdown, furthering their lead with a score of 3-32. The Moors concluded the game with a touchdown from Halen Tsang, leaving the Moors with a final score of 11-32.
The Moors currently stand 5th in the Almont League, going 1-8 after the Homecoming game.
“The football season was good and I was glad to have played with our seniors,” junior Rodolfo Contreras said.
The Moors will face off against Mark Keppel for the last and final game of the season on Oct. 31.
