It’s that time of the year again. As the weather is cooling and the leaves are changing colors, AHS is about to host its 2010 Homecoming.
This year’s Homecoming game will be tonight. It will be taking place at Moor Field against the San Gabriel Matadors.
“San Gabriel is just another wall that we have to crush to win the Almont League championship,” said sophomore offensive lineman Andrew Lugo. “It will be a great battle.”
Varsity football Head Coach Lou Torres is also excited about the arrival of this game.
“It is going to be tough since we are going to play our rivals [San Gabriel], but I look forward to the game. I know that ASB puts on a great show at halftime so it will be a great evening for students to remember,” said Torres.
While the football team is playing the Matadors, Executive is busy tackling the Homecoming Dance. The day after the game, the Homecoming Dance will be celebrated in AHS’ large gym. This year’s theme is “A Night in Atlantis,” and the colors are seafoam green, aquamarine and gold.
Traditionally, the Homecoming Dance includes a Homecoming Court with a king and queen who are elected by the student body. Voting for the Homecoming Court began on Oct. 18 in the Quad at lunch.
“Homecoming is one of the only dances similar to Prom and Winterball, but more affordable. Everyone should just go for the experience of the dance,” said Director of Pep Davina Tsui.
Torres also believes that the homecoming activities are an integral part of high school.
“Homecoming is one event that makes really great memories in high school. Everyone puts their best foot forward,” said Torres.
