The AHS swim team is once again wrapping up the 2015 season. Coming into the regular season, the team finished with a 2-2 record in preseason. With the even record, the swimmers, along with Head Coach B, have been working to have more wins than losses and qualify swimmers to the Almont League Finals and the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) Preliminaries.

In the past three years, there has been a new head coach for every season. Adjusting to the switching of the coaches has been an obstacle for the team, but they have still been working well under Head Coach B. According to senior Macy Chung, she has had three different coaches throughout her swim career and it has definitely taken a lot of time to adapt to each style of teaching the team. However, the Moors are still able to train and learn from whoever the coach may be and get where they need to be.

Even with a constant change in coaches, the Moors are currently ranked fifth in the Almont League, which is one better than last year’s team. Although the team as a whole is done with the season, each swimmer individually is now focused on first qualifying to the Almont League Finals, then to CIF.

“Qualifying to CIF is definitely a dream right now, but first I think all of us need to focus mentally to get through league finals because we’re physically ready,” junior Vanessa Gutierrez said.
