As of Nov. 15, all Alhambra cross country uniforms were put away after closing off the 2014 fall season. For some varsity members, the postseason ended soon after the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) preliminaries.
After her third year of only having one of the two varsity teams qualify, Head Coach Sandra Rodriguez was able to bring along the varsity boys’ and girls’ team with her this year to CIF Prelims at Mount San Antonio College.

“This is the fourth time I’ve brought a team to CIF, but this season was special, [because] I had both teams with me. In the past two seasons, the boys missed [placing amongst the top three teams at league finals] by only a few points while girls’ qualified both years, but I’m glad they made it to CIF [this year],” Rodriguez said.

Of the top seven in both the boys’ and girls’ teams, the finishing order was similar to that of the 2014 Almont League Finals. Sophomore Yaneli Guajardo led the girls’ team, similar to Gabriel Castro with boys’.

Now that cross country is over for all members in the team, some are taking breaks until next season while others are switching gears for the upcoming 2015 track and field season.

According to sophomore Kelly Huang, there’s a bittersweet feeling to season being done and over, but she’s glad overall and ready for the fall 2015 cross country season.
