Prom 2010 The Tradition Continues…

Within our culture, Prom is revered by upperclassmen as a landmark in their high school experience. Some would say that Prom is the culmination of four years of hard work. At AHS, Prom has always been a popular event. The dance which is hosted by Junior Class Council, is traditionally held at formal locations across the Los Angeles area. This year’s Junior Council will be hosting the event at the Vibiana in downtown Los Angeles on May 22.

The Vibiana features 35,000 square feet of luxurious space where Baroque inspired interiors are beautifully complemented by the expansive garden space surrounding the venue. As students walk into the Vibiana, they will pass through the garden and enter into the foyer of the main hall, which is where dinner will take place. Equally important about this year’s Prom location is its proximity to AHS: It’s only a quick 20 minute drive.

Recently, the Vibiana has become a celebrity hot spot, drawing the likes of Lauren Conrad and Corinne Bailey Rae, the latter of which performed a concert there on April 10. Because of its ideal location in the heart of metropolitan Los Angeles, the Vibiana has quickly become a venue on the list of locations for Hollywood after parties. Moreover, the Vibiana, a now desanctified Cathedral, was the location for ET and People magazine’s Emmy Award after parties.

Junior Council is doing their best to accommodate the diverse student body, which will attend this year’s Prom. The menu will include inspired dishes revolving around the “La Serenissima” theme. Desserts will include tiramisu bites and chocolate-covered strawberries. In addition, for all you vegetarians, Junior Council will be providing options as well.
