The Gist

Picture this—high ceilings, marble walls, pillars and columns accompanied by various water and cloud lighting effects. But it doesn’t end there, as you walk outside you are greeted by the soothing sounds of a jazz band where you can admire the surrounding garden or relax in the lounge area. This may sound like a scene out of a romantic film, but this year‘s Junior Council and Prom Committee have made it a reality.

This year’s theme, “La Serenissima: An Evening in Venice,” exudes elegance and serenity, as the name implies. The colors are a decadent mix of Sapphire blue, Garnet red and Venetian gold.

Ticket prices started at $85 on rush day, April 21 and then increased to $95 from April 26 to May 7. Prices will rise again from May 10 to May 14 to $100.

As always, voting for Prom Court is limited to seniors. Nominations were accepted from April 20-22 and voting for top ten and top five will be on April 28 and 30, respectively. The top five senior boys and girls will be announced the Friday after voting and the official Prom Court will be presented on May 4.

“[This year] we hope to create an intimate and classy atmosphere where students will enjoy the upbeat atmosphere on the dance floor and be stunned by the ornate building and decorations,” said Junior Council President Oscar Wong.
