Treatment

It is believed that less than 10 percent of people who have OCD have received treatment. Many know that they have a disorder but are too embarrassed or afraid to seek help, while others are simply not bothered enough by their symptoms to try to find it. There are various support groups, therapy techniques, medicine regimens, mood stabilizers and, in extreme cases, surgery available to those who want to manage the disorder. Because the severity and symptoms of OCD vary greatly between each person, it is important to receive a proper diagnosis and assessment by a medical professional in order to decide on the appropriate treatment for each unique case.
