All-Male All Day

As we enter the new school year, we look forward to new experiences, changes and challenges. But of course, what more is there to look forward to than the performances our dance teams? AHS’ award-winning All-Male Dance Team consistently excites the crowd with their performances. They practice every summer and nearly two hours every day during the school year. Last year, they won first place in their first competition at Street Dance USA. Clearly, hard work pays off in the long run.

Within those years, they have had a rough path. They have had several adviser changes, from Jan Crawford to alumnus John Tieng to Speech and Debate coach Kevin Tong. With Tong as their new adviser, they feel much more organized and better-prepared. They also receive more performance time at school assemblies.

It is clear that dancing is not a mere hobby to them, but a team that affects them personally. These members grow together through the team as a family. “I believe the best thing about being in All-Male is that you get accepted into a new family,” Captain Raymond Tran said. They grow not only with each other, but also with Orchesis and Drill Team.
