The varsity boysʼ volleyball team approaches their new season with renewed ambition and a success-driven mindset. With rigorous practices, in addition to preseason games for experience, the team is doing all they can to prepare for league.
Coming off with a 3-3 preseason record, the team suffered a 0-3 loss in their March 20 season opener against Mark Keppel, starting off their season with a 0-1 league record. However, the boys remain diligent in their overall goal to be a force in the Almont League and are optimistic in respect to their upcoming game.
“We didnʼt communicate effectively on the court. We need to improve on our consistency and on our discipline,” middle blocker Steven Uy said.
Conditioning is always a priority for any athletic team and the Moors are emphasizing the need to stay in shape. However, technique and fundamentals are both equally as important and crucial to being successful in the sport. Not only do the Moors strive to get in top physical shape during practice, they also incorporate many drills to ensure that they are fundamentally sound with their technique.
“It is important that we remain diligent throughout our daily practices. Our ultimate goal is to improve both our conditioning and our technique,” outside hitter Eric Leung said.
The team is also emphasizing the importance of maintaining a positive mindset. Volleyball is a competitive sport, and the team knows that in order for them to perform at their full potential, they must come into every match with optimism and complete focus. Dedication is also necessary and the team puts in a lot of effort in preparation for their matches.
The boys are ultimately working on all aspects of their game and refining their strategies as they prepare for their upcoming league season. They are demonstrating exceptional hard work and are practicing to meet their expectations of a successful year.
