It is a Monday morning, and the majority of the student body is getting ready to start their day while the varsity football players are preparing for their morning practices.
“During practices, everyone works very hard and nobody slacks off,” senior Captain Jonathan Bird said.
However, on Sept. 30, the Moors had an unfortunate loss against South Pasadena with a score of 5-6. This not only ended their winning streak, but also pressures the team to do better for forthcoming games.
“The loss was a big disappointment as we won against South Pasadena last year with a score of 14-27. We didnʼt put [as much] effort as the other games, but weʼre very confi dent for the Homecoming game,” junior quarterback Josh Mendoza said.
As many of the players are committed to make up for last yearʼs loss at Homecoming, it is just another game for them to give their all and win.
On Oct. 14, Alhambra scored 17 points in their first half of the game which kept the crowd excited. By the third quarter, Mark Keppel made their first touchdown, 17-7. During the start of the fourth quarter, the team held up four fingers as a tradition that they would play hard with minutes before the end of the game. Scoring 15 points, Alhambra wins with a score of 32-7.The crowd cheers and the marching band play an enthusiastic tune.
“There are definitely no bad feelings from winning, but weʼre practicing tomorrow (Saturday, Oct. 15) to prepare for the game against Schurr,” Head Coach Lou Torres said.
Despite their positive performance since the beginning of the season, some of the players have expressed their main goal is to gain the Almont League title.
