Girls Tennis Picks up Sixth Win of Season

RANDY YANG Staff Writer

Recently, girls tennis earned their sixth win of the season against San Gabriel with an overwhelming score of 13-5. At this point, the only other school  that was in the running to win League champions was the Mark Keppel Aztecs, who had a record of 7-0.

Three year member of the girls tennis team Eleanor Hennigan and two year member Vivian Ko ravaged the courts as doubles partners. The two formed a strong team as they knew how to maneuver around each other in the court. Together, the pair was untouchable, winning all three of  their matches in a clean sweep against their opponents.

“I’m pretty happy with how our season is going so far,” junior Katelyn Luc said. “So far we are 6-1 in our season, so I think we have a really good chance at winning league.”

Tennis has a very positive outlook for their season, with a record of 6-1 so far, they have proved to be a very formidable team. The only school that they have lost to so far has been Mark Keppel, their main rival.

“I didn’t really expect us to do so good this season because last year we had a lot of new varsity members, but I’m glad that all of our hard work is finally starting to pay off,” junior Celina Yu said.

Alongside their victory against San Gabriel, Tennis has also progressed to the second round of CIF and will be going on to the third round on Friday, Nov. 9 at Yucaipa High School against the Yucaipa Thunderbirds The event begins at 2 p.m. and will end sometime around 5 p.m.
