On August 22, 2018 California Governor Jerry Brown signed the bill recognizing and regulating cottage food industries. Assembly bill 626 includes specific qualities such as strict guidelines each vendor must follow. Guidelines that must be followed contain the basics like not selling seafood that has been out for to long. Other rules contain only same day cooking and selling. With the guidelines this bill also has way more reasons to it. Such as creating a pathway of protection and opportunities for others that have been marginalized like immigrants and people of color. “This law would show that immigrants coming from different countries have put their mindset on providing themselves with business and profit into pocket with no complications,” Freshman Alize Rodriguez said. With having great respects to those that are not looked at as much there are still possible complications.

The California State Association of Counties and County Health Executives disputed that businesses such as diners will have the pathogen bacteria which causes food poisoning uncovered. Street cart vendors do not have that worry about the revealing of having a history of food poisoning or any bad service. Their sales increase on the amount of products sold and they do not need money to go towards advertising.“Home made food retailers also don’t have to worry about paying taxes to the city for their post or stand of business,” Freshman Jaclyn Romero said. These merchants keep every penny to themselves and don’t pay taxes to the IRS as we do.

In the end having an illegal cart would be unfair to those who lose a effective amount of money. This bill being passed will affect immigrants who are selling without a permit but having a permit would promise safety to the seller and customers knowing each food sold is made by following guidelines just as restaurant would. The streets of California now have the greater odds of having a healthier and safer environment. On August 22, 2018 California Governor.
