Controversies on the topic of political correctness have been a topic of debate for some time. Recently, the University of Chicago has declared they are against campus political correctness. The students from Alhambra High School also have much to say about political correctness.
“I think using political correctness is a better way to address people formally. When political correctness is not used, it feels like [people talk in a] negative way to degrade people [on purpose],” said Senior Timmas Thong.

“I feel like in this society it is necessary because nowadays everyone gets offended by everything,” said Junior Joseph Huang.
“Political correctness is proper because people should respect the culture of others. I think an exception would be if the person does not mind,” said Sophomore Marianna Kwok.
“Political correctness has been hijacked by people who are too sensitive and concerned over non-stereotypical names. I do want a degree of political correctness, but people take it too far,” said Senior Gabriel Gonzalez.

“Although political correctness is a way to be less offensive, I don’t think it’s really necessary because in our society today using politically correct terms just makes a conversation awkward,” said Freshman Queeny Zhang.
