Holding a record of 3-7, the girls’ varsity team have pushed their way to a tie for fourth place in league. Despite having victories against Mark Keppel and Schurr, the Moors were not eligible for California Interscholastic Federation (CIF). Although they had a long and tedious season, the Moors are proud and happy of what they accomplished. With four returners for the following year, the rest of the team consist of seniors. Losing their last game against Bell Gardens and missing CIF by one rank, the Lady Moors seniors shared emotional tears due to their last game playing not only under AHS but also Head Coach Charles Tran.

“As a senior, it’s definitely hard to accept that this was the last year I’d be playing volleyball. Although it’s been a roller coaster of emotions the past four years, I’m extremely thankful for this program. You meet such amazing, loving people, people you probably wouldn’t interact with if it weren’t for [volleyball]. There’s been so many heart-to-heart talks, hilarious insiders and teasing amongst everyone. We’ve created this family bond that you honestly can’t find elsewhere. I wouldn’t trade this volleyball program for anything else,” captain Carol Chen said.

“I’m going to continue playing [volleyball] but it’s going to be different since he’s been [the] head coach [of] the program ever since I was a [freshman],” junior defensive specialist Iris Zhou said.
