Prom: the four-letter word that is the ultimate high school experience. This year, AHS’ Prom was held at the Vibiana, once a working Catholic cathedral, on May 22.

The event included dinner, music, casino games and a jazz band.

According to senior Brenda Chi, her goal was to have as much excitement as possible, which she accomplished by enjoying herself with her friends.

“Prom was very fun, and since [it’s my] senior year, my main goal of the night was to have as much fun as possible there, and I think I did that,” said Chi, who felt that the dance floor was the best part.

Senior Efrain Mejia also felt the same way.

“I thought Prom was great. There was a lot of pessimism that [the event] this year wouldn’t be fun, but the opposite was true. I had a great time dancing with my date and friends, [and it was] a nice way to relieve some stress of senior year,” said Mejia.

Others, like senior Alyssa Trulson, felt that the experience was not worth the ticket price.

“Overall, I was pretty disappointed. I wasn’t expecting this year’s prom to top last year’s, but I hoped it would at least come close to the fabulousness that was last year’s Prom […] I really didn’t get much out of it,” said Trulson.

Yet, she remained optimistic, seeing Prom as an opportunity to make the most out of her last months of high school.

“My favorite part was simply getting a chance to celebrate being a senior, and celebrate the end of high school with my friends,” said Trulson.

However, a main driving force behind the success of Prom was Junior Council, who worked hard to publicize the event and address any concerns students had.

They sold a total of 430 tickets, allowing them to make a profit.

All in all, Junior Council felt they did a successful job.

“It went smoothly and according to plan,” said Junior Council member Michelle Tham.
