AP of Instruction Brandon Dade Bids Farewell to AHS

‘STOP CUTS TO EDUCATION’ Over the past two years, AUSD has cut over $50 million. With $6-15 million more in cuts expected that will continue to reduce jobs and will result in program reductions, such as fewer AP and elective options, as well as reduced music and arts and sports programs, parents, students, faculty and staff gather at a Town Hall Meeting on May 3 at San Gabriel High School’s auditorium to “invest in our children and our community.”

Starting next school year, there will be changes to the AHS administration. The current Assistant Principal (AP) of Instruction, Brandon Dade, has been promoted to the position of principal in two Alhambra Unified School District high schools: Century and Independence.
“I feel I’m ready to be a principal, and [this] is the only opportunity in [the] district. It’s a good fit for me and the kids there,” Dade said.
Dade has been an administrator at AHS for the past five years. He accepted his new position on April 4 and will begin in the ’11-’12 school year.
“I definitely wanted to stay in this district. I won’t be on this campus, but I can still help kids from Alhambra. This is going to be a good and unique experience for me. It will provide more opportunity to help students in trouble. I can really help students with unique needs,” Dade said. “It’s definitely going to be different from what I’m doing now.”
To fill his vacant position, current AP of Guidance Jas Cisneros, who has had previous experience as an elementary school principal, instructional specialist and classroom teacher, will become AP of Instruction.
“[Dade] is going to make a fabulous principal and the kids at Independence and Century High will really benefit [from] him,” Cisneros said. “I’m also excited about my new position, because instruction and curriculum is my specialty. But we’ll all miss him terribly.”
Phuong Nguyen, currently AP of Student Services, will become AP of Guidance.
“I am very excited about the opportunity but will greatly miss AHS,” Dade said. “It has been home for me for eight years and it has been a pleasure working with the staff and students here.”
