Trump Banned from Social Media Platforms

Donald Trump was banned from Twitter, YouTube, Instagram, Facebook and more platforms after he incited a mob on Jan. 6, encouraging his supporters to rebel against government officials for his idea of a rigged election. The capitol building was broken into by enthusiastic rioters as a result.

According to Vox, Twitter and Facebook have banned Trump for his pugnacious tweets. Facebook and Twitter, as well as other platforms, have let him push their restrictions for years without retaliation. With the inciting of the capitol break-in, platforms started to remove Trump completely from the platforms, maybe permanently.

“I believe Trump being banned from social media was a reasonable attempt to stop the chaos occurring in our nation,” senior Ashley Arizmendi said. “It should have been done earlier, his attempt to address this situation through social media only added fire to the fuel.”

Another article from Vox noted that political officials tend to lose publicity without access to social media. Trump may very well lose much of his influence and popularity now that he cannot actively express his views and criticize other political officials.

However, Donald Trump may attempt to run again in 2024, according to Gulf Today. His whole economic model has changed and his business sense has vastly changed from 2016. His social media presence may not be much of an issue as long as he can keep himself in the news.

Trump may be able to keep his republican influence in Congress until the next election; however, it is unlikely that he will attempt any political move in the coming year.

“I think he will definitely try to push for a second campaign or may even try to get more Republican support for his son Donald Trump Jr.,” senior Sarah Cruz said.

His usage of Twitter sometimes makes people question whether or not his account is actually him, but he will likely find it difficult to spread his opinions without the help of social media.
