Los Laureados is an award which, in the past, was only given to seniors who showed leadership and commitment. This year for the first time, juniors are being honored as well. Students are nominated by staff, who then vote on the nominees. According to Assistant Principal Thomas Kahout, the students with the most votes win the award.

“[The faculty] look at what the definition of leadership is. It can be academic or it could be outside the classroom,”  Kahout said.

This year’s semi-finalists have already been notified. Some students who are not semi-finalists mistakenly received a survey, which caused some confusion. This was reportedly due to a glitch.

“I really wish our school communicated better knowing that this glitch could’ve  incited false hope,” junior Chi Luc said. “I’m disappointed that our school could allow such minor incidents to occur.”

The finalists will be announced on Senior Awards Night.
