The Moors Remain Undefeated

JONATHAN REYNOSA Sports Editor

Two weeks ago, the Moors scored the most points they have all season reaching 69 points against the Schurr Spartans.

In this offensive outburst and season-high in points scored the Moors were clicking in every offensive aspect. The Moors were practically spotless against the Spartans.

“Being mentally prepared and playing smart has lead us to a good place as a team and has put us in  a good spot so far. What really makes us stand out from the other teams is our trust in one another and team chemistry, everyone is on the right page right now.’’, senior Jose Ortiz said.

Ortiz’s comments coincide with the results as Alhambra passed for 261 total yards. Quarterback Noah Rodriguez (Sophomore) was incredibly efficient throwing no interceptions with a completion rate of 63 percent. Rushing, running back Isaac Hernandez (sophomore) rushed for 96 total yards and Jose Ortiz (senior) picked up 51 rushing yards. Although, Ortiz believes the passing aspect to be more prominent.

“I feel we were really efficient as an offensive unit, which is what helped us score so many points, but I have to say our passing whether it was play action or out of the shotgun was really crucial.” said Ortiz.

In their most recent game the Moors just barely pulled out their seventh win in as many games against the Montebello Oilers. The score was 55-48 in favor of the Moors as they overpowered the Oilers offense to stay undefeated and move to 7-0 this season. Quarterback Noah Rodriguez out did himself with what was arguably the best game of his season so far. Rodriguez picked up 358 passing yards with only one interception, and he managed to pick up 124 rushing yards as well.

The next games coming up on the Moors’ schedule are against the San Gabriel Matadors and against Bell Gardens for the homecoming game. The dates for those games are the Friday Oct.18 and Friday Oct.25. Make  sure to come out and support your  Moors at the homecoming game against the Bell Gardens Lancers.
