Patriots Release Troubled NFL Wide Receiver Antonio Brown

NFL wide receiver Antonio Brown was recently released by the Oakland Raiders after being with them for a couple of weeks.

Throughout his nine-year NFL career, Brown has been involved in many instances where he violated either the league rules or the law. He got in disputes with players in Pittsburgh and indicated he was moving on from the team, which spurred suspicion from the Steelers. Later, Brown was traded to the Oakland Raiders during the 2019 NFL Draft.

According to the New York Times, Brown was released by the Raiders after a dispute about his choice of helmet. He then signed a one-year deal with the New England Patriots the same day for $15 million.

However, on Friday, Sept. 20, the Patriots released Brown after allegations of sexual assault and violence surfaced. Although Brown claimed on Twitter that he was retiring, three days later his agent had more to say.

“I believe that Antonio wants to continue his career in the NFL,” agent Drew Rosenhaus said. “I’ve had discussions with teams that are very interested in him.”

Many sports fans seem to think that Brown should not be allowed to remain in the NFL, however.

“If the allegations are true, then I don’t think he deserves another shot in the NFL,” junior Daniel Campbell said.

“If the allegations are false… he should have another shot.”

Brown still remains unsigned.
