Fires of Northern California

Northern California wildfires have destroyed at least 8,400 homes and other buildings. The fires have happened in the county of Santa Rosa, Sonoma and Napa California. There has been a significant increase in the property loss. The efforts by firefighters to gain control of the wildfires and by searchers looking for more victims.
The death toll in the month October remained at 42, making these series of fires the deadliest in California history. The estimate of structure losses jumped from 7,700 reported over the weekend.
“I hope people and animals are able to find shelter, and return back to their old neighborhood, but with new homes,” senior Adrian Delgado said.
About 100,000 people were forced out by the fires and some evacuees are wondering whether they can stay in the region for the long term.
Red Cross volunteers at shelters provide clothing and other essentials to victims. The Red Cross is asking for donations and volunteers to help with the aftermath of the fires. The Redwood Empire Food Bank are providing food to shelters for those who are displaced by the fire. They are asking for financial donations or ready-to-eat, non perishable food donations brought to 3990 Brickway Blvd. in Santa Rosa for shelters that do not have kitchens.
