With the closing of the fall sports season, many sports are holding end of year award ceremony celebrations. Across the school, girl’s volleyball, girl’s golf, and girl’s tennis have all reunited following their seasons to congratulate and recognize their players.
Girl’s volleyball held their end of season banquet on Nov. 20 to congratulate athletes for participating throughout the season. Along with every player receiving the Alhambra High School Athletic Award certificate, each coach for each respective level chose three stand out players to recognize. For the Moors varsity team, Malia Nakasone was awarded the coaches award, Evangeline Robledo was recognized as most improved, and Sophia Jones was the most valuable player. On the JV team, Eileen Estrada received the Coaches Award, Isabella Guitierrez was most improved, and MVP went to Aubree Bute. Finally the girls selected on the frosh team were Elizabeth Leonardo for the coaches award, Melissa Orozsco as most improved, and Hilary Wong as the most valuable player.
On Nov. 14, girl’s golf held their banquet to celebrate their outstanding achievements this fall. The Varsity team was awarded a plaque from CIF-SS for winning the D5 team CIF championship. Individually every player was given the Alhambra High School Athletic Award recognizing everyone for their individual effort. Along with the High School award, the majority of the team went home with recognition awards from the Almont League. Megan Lai, Camila Chacon, Alyssa Jean Guevara and Keira Hsu all received Almont League first team honors with Ann Vo receiving second team honors. Then players from each level, Varsity and JV accepted awards chosen from each respective coach. On varsity, Megan Lai and Camila Chacon were each awarded the Captain’s award, Helen Chung was named most improved player and Keira Hsu was honored as the rookie of the year. On Nov. 22 girl’s tennis held their team dinner to celebrate their players who worked hard all season long. Senior Kaylie Lam was recognized for best singles and The Calvin Chow Coach’s Award, Satori Awuma was most improved, Andria Lerma was the most dedicated and Theresa Bui was awarded the best teammate award. As for the JV team, Angela Hsu and Linda Lin were awarded for best doubles, Samantha Kha was recognized for best singles, Amelia Guo was recognized for most improved, and Tracey Phung received the Coach’s award.
