The varsity boy’s tennis team is currently endeavoring through their season which has proved to be quite challenging for the team with a current league record of 1-3. The boys were unable to win against the Schurr Spartans, San Gabriel Matadors, and the Mark Keppel Aztecs. But their recent win against the Montebello Oilers on Thursday, April 14 has boosted the team spirits. The boys are using their victory as motivation to improve themselves throughout their season.

“So far the tennis team is really improving their skills, but we need to improve as a team a lot more if we plan on going to CIF. This is going to be a challenge, but I believe we can do it,” Varsity Player Ly Jacky Nhiayi said.

So far the varsity team still aims high to make CIF. The boys are currently in sixth place in league. The varsity team continually strives to improve and work their way back up to the best. With some hard work, there is still a chance for the boys to achieve their season goal of CIF.

“We still have great potential. It’s going to be good. We [can still] have a good season,” head coach Bill Yee said.

The boys’ varsity tennis team’s next game will be played away against the rival Mark Keppel Aztecs on April 26.
“We started off on the wrong foot that’s for sure. We all are doing our best to pull our own weight and still trying to improve our skills a lot to look for answers ourselves,” said Varsity player Iric Hong.
