As Southern California continues to experience its crazed weather patterns, JV swim continues to persevere and work hard for their upcoming season.
“[We] plan to improve by swimming and preparing [ourselves] mentally and physically for the Almont League. We hope to be better swimmers by the end of the year as we work hard [to achieve our goals],” freshman Dang Hua said.
In their daily routine, the Moors practice at Granada Park for at least two hours. Besides swimming laps, they do weight training and work on improving their own records.
This year, the players have new expectations for themselves by setting the varsity members as their role models.
“Our varsity [members] are fast, supportive and [they] encourage [us] to stick to swimming even when we donʼt do so well,” freshman Jason Hannanto said. “They motivate me by the way they swim [as] they have more experience with different styles of swimming.”
While swimming is an individual sport, working together to achieve the common goal of becoming better swimmers so that they can contribute to the team makes each one a team player.
“The team really is a range of people from all backgrounds that all have one passion- to swim,” Hannanto reiterated.
