The varsity girls’ volleyball team proved that they were no longer the underdogs as they ended their season with a third-place ranking in the Almont League. It was the dedication and effort of the players that made their season successful. Senior outside hitter Magan Chiang has been a member of the girls’ volleyball team since her sophomore year; however, her talent landed her a spot on the varsity squad despite only playing since the end of her freshman year.

What goals did you set for yourself this season and do you feel that you met them?
I really wanted to just do everything I could and be the best that I could be, not just for myself, but for the rest of the team. I feel like I met my goals for the most part, but I have few regrets.

What are some of your favorite memories?
My favorite memories are all the practices we had because they were all full of fun and laughter and the team bonding we had.

What have you learned from playing volleyball?
I learned how to push my limits and do what I thought I couldn’t do. I’m so glad that I decided to be a part of this team and both the experience and journey have helped me grow as an individual in both my game and my personality.

What words of wisdom would you like to share with next year’s players?
Play as long as you still have the passion and love for the game. Without heart, you will never be able to achieve anything no matter how hard you practice. Always remember that hard work can show more than talent.
