Though most of this year’s emphasis has been placed on the varsity football team, many do not realize the success of the JV team.
“It has been a great season this year and the players have had much more help compared to pre
vious years,” JV Coach Michael Barbera said.
Currently, the team has an undefeated record of 6-0. At their previous game against Mark Keppel on Oct. 13, the Moors won 52-0.
According to the majority of the players, the toughest team they faced was South Pasadena on Sept. 29; however, they claimed victory with a score of 30-29.
“It seems like we have a good chance in winning the Almont League title [for our school],” Barbera said.
The captains this year include: sophomores Branden Barbera and Daniel Rodriguez and junior Eddie Herrera. The experience the JV team gains from practicing with the varsity players helps them excel in Almont League and the Tri- City Championship.
“[Our] goal is to one day be on varsity, because we look up to them,” sophomore running back Jacob Castro said.
The team’s final game will take place on Nov. 9 at Moor Field against Bell Gardens.
