At the Homecoming game on Oct.26 the Moors continued their magical season, facing off against the Bell Gardens Lancers in a closely contested game that came down to the final quarter.

The Moors trailed the Lancers for the majority of the second half; down one point the Moor’s defense answered the call. The Moors held the Lancers scoreless for the final half of the game.

“When we needed stops the defense kept delivering. Our defense pretty much won the game for us today and picked up the slack for our offense. If we can keep the same defensive recipe for the next game I’m positive that we can finish our season undefeated,” senior Vito Russel said.

While the Lancers totaled 64 drives to the Moor’s 51, the Moors still managed to take the lead in the final quarter of the game. Meaning the Moor’s offensive performance was not as prominent as previous games, but once again there were multiple offensive standouts. Quarterback Noah Rodriguez put forth an extremely efficient performance completing 21 of his 29 attempts, and yielding a 72% completion rate.

While once again, the potent duo of wide receivers Kody Chuang and Russel ran circles around the Bell Gardens defense. Both Russel and Chuang combined for 193 total receiving yards and Chuang picked up a touchdown. With a now 10-0  record after winning their final game against the Aztecs 590  the Moors look forward to playoffs.

“It’s a good feeling for all of us to have been able to make it to the playoffs and nonetheless undefeated. Now we just have to take each game one at a time and continue to replicate the work we’ve done all season,” senior Jose Ortiz said.

The Moors will be playing Diamond Bar in the first round of one game elimination playoffs. The Brahmas are 5-5 in their season and look to upset the undefeated Moors. The game will be played on Nov. 8 at 7:30 p.m and the Moors will have the home field advantage.
