Our country’s valiant defendants do not always return home safe and sound. On the contrary, they often return battered and worn out. That is why many institutions have been created to support veterans and their needs.
One organization is the U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs (VA), which provides veterans with monetary compensation for their injuries and illnesses. It also provides compensation to family members of veterans who passed away while in service or from service-related disabilities. In addition, the VA provides veterans with dental care for injuries sustained while in service and recommends various types of therapy for Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder .
Another well-known organization that aids veterans is the Healing Heroes Network. This non-profit organization serves to help veterans with specific needs not covered by the VA. Founded by Dr. Allan Spiegel and his wife, Stacey Spiegel, the organization has been helping veterans treat PTSD since 2008.
There is still much work to be done in order to compensate the heroes of this country. Their sacrifices have made the U.S. a safer place to live in, but what they receive in return may not always be sufficient payment. However, the contributions of many organizations, including the VA and Healing Heroes Network, have benefited many veterans and continue to do so.
